2011 Big Sweep/ Litter Sweep UPDATE
Keep Belmont Beautiful Volunteers met at 9 AM on the first Saturday in October at Stowe Park
for the Annual Big Sweep/Litter Sweep. KBB organizes the Belmont event with help from the City of Belmont.
In 2011 our 169 volunteers collected 165 bags of trash. Volunteers cleaned throughout the city and the boat landing at the river.
David Isenhour, Director of Public Works estimated that the bags amounted to 3,300 lbs of litter!
KBB appreciates our volunteers who helped make BIG SWEEP 2011 a huge success!
The 2011 BIG SWEEP volunteers came from different groups. They were:
ROTC - South Point High School, Boy Scout Troop 56 - Park Street, Girl Scout Troop 72 - Park Street,
Girl Scout Troop 2133 - Queen of Apostles,Girl Scout Troop - 293 - First Presbyterian, Boy Scout Troop - 58 - First United Methodist,
North Belmont Elementary Green Team, Belmont Middle School Beta Club,
Park Street Youth Group, Boy Scout Troop 501, Belmont Police Department, Belmont Fire Department
and many individual volunteers came out to help with the clean up.

Due to a rain-out for City Pride Day our totals are quite different this year. We had several groups pick up before
April 16th. David Isenhour, Public Works Director, released the following information:
Total bulk pickup with garbage trucks 20.46 tons and there are probably 5.0 tons
on the other garbage truck which has not been dumped as yet at this writing.
I feel safe in saying we picked up 25.46 tons of bulk
We picked up 31 orange bags of trash at a weight of 15lbs per bag for a
total of 465lbs. on Parkdale Drive and one dump truck load of trash which would
be approximately 3.0 tons.
TOTAL BULK TONS = 28.71 TONS
TOTAL DEBRIS PICKED UP = 31.O TONS
TOTAL APPLIANCE PICKUPS = 6
TOTAL ORANGE BAGS = 31
Totals for all bulk and debris for City Pride Week = 59.71 Tons picked up for
the week of 4/18/2011 thru 4/21/2011
