books collected There was a total of 15,858 telephone books
collected. Pizza parties are planned for the winning classes in each school and
the top individuals will be awarded certificates and KBB shirts. KBB
is sponsoring a used telephone book recycling contest in January 2008, with the
judging on February 1st. Participating schools are South Point High School,
Belmont Middle School, JP Page, Belmont Central, and North Belmont Elementary
School. |

Books stacked in groups of 25 for the judging. KBB judges were: Ken Davis, Mike
Holland, Jeannette Faulkenberry, Judy Marett and Steve Crane.

April 26, 2008 - City Pride Day
Keep Belmont Beautiful and the City of Belmont will sponsor City
Pride Day on April 26, 2008.
Last years City Pride Day was a huge success. Over 130 volunteers participated;
groups were Keep Belmont Beautiful Board, KBB volunteers, South Point High
School ROTC, Park Street United Methodist Church Boy Scout Pack 58, FUMC of
Belmont Boy Scout Troop 56, Belmont Abbey Lacrosse Team, Reid Community, RL
Stowe Company, Belmont Fire Dept., Belmont Police and Explorer Group, Belmont
Historical Society, Belmont Woman's Club, St. Mark's United Methodist Church,
FUMC of Belmont, Town & Country Garden Club and Simonds Grading &
Restoration. We had 22 corporate sponsors.
Event started with sausage biscuits, McKenney-Salinas Honda Dealership (sponsor
and also Honda is a national sponsor of the Great American Clean Up by Keep
America Beautiful) had a Honda Civic Hybrid on site. After delittering areas
volunteers returned with "most unusual trash" for prizes, free tee shirts that
were designed by Daniel Helms (student at Art By J), a hot dog lunch and
bluegrass music by The South Fork Boys.
